About Us
BHS Qualifications (BHSQ) is an awarding body recognised and regulated by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, SQA Accreditation in Scotland, Qualifications Wales (QW) and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
We work in partnership with a variety of organisations, such as The British Horse Society, the British Equestrian Federation and its member bodies, employers and other stakeholders.
We develop and award industry-recognised, regulated qualifications including Scottish Vocational qualifications, Work Based Diplomas and Personal Development Qualification.
We offer qualifications falling within different award frameworks:
- The British Horse Society (BHS) assessments
- Work Based Diplomas
- Scottish Vocational Qualifications
- BHSQ Personal Development Qualifications
All qualifications are developed with the governing body, industry experts, employers and users, and we recognise a wide range of entry pathways into our qualifications. Our qualifications are industry-recognised and contribute to horse management and care, riding and coaching in equestrian. Some of our qualifications contribute to Apprenticeship Frameworks.
BHSQ is a member of the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB). FAB states it is the collective voice of the UK's world class qualifications and assessment industry. BHSQ has joined with FAB to sign up to its pledge for equality, diversity and inclusion. This means BHSQ will commit to the fundamental principles of ensuring equity and inclusivity for all learners, stakeholders and colleagues. We will actively push for a systemic shift in the proportion of people from diverse backgrounds who work in, and engage with, vocational and technical education. For more information about our pledge please see the FAB website.
